I’m 27 years old and study history at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz in a M.A. Course I’ve enrolled for a year ago. I’ve been ceremonially awarded my B.A. degree this summer with a delay of more than a year due to the covid pandemic that made graduation ceremonies impossible.
Furthermore I work two days a week as a working student for the public utility company of Mainz being so-to-say a third generation employee: my father and my maternal grandfather have been employed there, my mother still is.

I’ve been watching Eurovision all my life but really got interested and steadily addicted to it after Lena’s victory in 2010. But I’m not a fair-weather fan (a word I came across several times after Sam Ryder decisively helped to pave the ESC bandwagon’s way to a UK(rainian) Eurovision in Liverpool). I kept in with it and even joined Eurovision-style contests such as the Home Composed Song Contest.

This year I’m competing at the Home Composed Song Contest for the 10th time which means that I’m about to have the honour to enter the list of participants with the most entries. My song, a ballad with slight rock elements, is about the common weakness of being too intimidated to reach a big goal that seem impossible to achieve, although it actually isn’t, as well as the mediocrity and self-denial of German culture and society which becomes evident in comparison to countries such as Brazil, France and Portugal. We all, and I self-critically include myself into it, would be well-advised to present our best sides, to increase self-confidence and to attach importance to our outward appearance. Countless examples like the smashing success of Chanel Terrero at this year’s ESC with her lavish and bewitching performance show the importance of making such efforts.

I always wonder why

Why don’t we dare to dream
of something that doesn’t seem
to be attainable until the end of the lifetime
in spite of being within our reach in our prime

Why do we hesitate
to escape the shade before it is too late
Before we start to bemoan, to regret
that we refused opportunities we could get

I always wonder why
we don’t wanna fly high
up to the endless sky
where fulfillment is nigh

I always wonder why
we let our lives pass by
with a heavy-hearted sigh
I always wonder why

Our time inevitably evaporates
Our days rush away like water through open floodgates
We take at heaven on earth a lustful glance
but we are too cowardly to take a chance

I always wonder why
we don’t wanna fly high
up to the endless sky
where fulfillment is nigh

I always wonder why
we let our lives pass by
with a heavy-hearted sigh
I always wonder why

I always wonder why
we don’t wanna fly high
up to the endless sky
where fulfillment is nigh

I always wonder why
we let our lives pass by
with a heavy-hearted sigh
I always wonder why

I always wonder why we have no will to take the lead
I always wonder why we don’t get down to do a good deed
I always wonder why we have no will to take a chance
I always wonder why we let heaven on earth out ouf our hands

I always wonder why
we don’t wanna fly high
up to the endless sky
where fulfillment is nigh

I always wonder why
we let our lives pass by
with a heavy-hearted sigh
I always wonder why

I always wonder why
we don’t wanna fly high
up to the endless sky
where fulfillment is nigh

I always wonder why
we let our lives pass by
with a heavy-hearted sigh
I always wonder why

I always wonder why
we don’t wanna fly high
up to the endless sky
where fulfillment is nigh

I always wonder why
we let our lives pass by
with a heavy-hearted sigh
I always wonder why
